San Isabel Lake

Date: 3/20/2009
Fish Caught: 3
Location: San Isabel Lake
Weather Condition: 50s and mild

There was just one way to celebrate the first of spring. A few weeks before I stopped by the lake and it was still covered, but the ice was thin. Now that it has been warm the last few day I figured there would be some open water.

I brought Skye with me for this trip as it was her turn to go fishing. She was great and for a 4 year old, she does great. We started with a dry fly and almost immediately caught the first rainbow. We caught another soon after. I then moved to a streamer and that is when we caught a splake. For those that do not know a splake is a cross between a lake trout and a brook trout.

Skye got tired soon after and wanted to go home. Great spring beginning.
