St Charles River

Date: 9/12/2008
Fish Caught: Browns and Bows
Location: St Charles River
Weather Condition: Fog and Mist

I got the afternoon off of work and wanted to take the afternoon and catch a few fish. I got off work at about 12:30 and headed up the hill. I got to San Isabel and was not surprised that I was alone because of the weather. I suited up and headed down the stream.

I got to the bottom of the spillway and the water was a little dirty. But I spotted a few fish right away and threw on a little yellow humphy. On the first cast I had multiple fish chasing the fly. Soon I hooked a nice rainbow and trying to bring it up the steep bank it came unhooked. Soon after i hooked another and it was a larger fish that could not be brought up so i made my way down and unhooked the fish. I stayed down and fished from there and caught 2 browns. One was a nice fish. I worked my way down and caught a fish or two in every spot that held water.

I worked my way back and caught a few more, then moved up to the lake. I left the dry fly on and fish were still rising in the fog. I caught 3 quickly, all rainbows. Then headed home. Great outing, and did not get too wet from the weather.
