Last night I planned on getting up at 5am and heading up to the lake. Well after working on projects late for a few nights I didn't quite wake up at 5, it was more like 7:30. I also have a rotation going with my kids and they take turns whenever I head up to the lake. This time it was Skyes turn and she is two years old right now. She was excited to go. Well we didn't leave home until 9:30 and got up to the lake 15 minutes later.

I put on the waders and put Skye in the Kelty backpack. I decided we would hike down to the stream that comes out of the lake. We got down to the stream and it was a raging torrent. We walked down looking for a fishable spot as the water was clear even though it was high. We never found a spot so we headed back up the hill. This is when the exercise was accomplished for the day. We got to the lake and started fishing from the dam. I saw a few rise out in the middle but nothing close to the shore. This is Memorial day weekend so there was a lot of people there. I saw a group leave around the spillway so I decided to try over there as I could wade out 20-30 feet.

We waded out and the wind died down and a cloud rolled over. The fish started rising and soon we hooked one. About a 12 inch bow. Skye loved it and she thought it was a huge fish, but at that age every fish is big.

We hooked another fairly quickly and released it quickly as well. Just after the second fish, the wind picked up again and the sun came out and the fish stopped feeding. It was a fun little trip for a few hours. Its nice to have a decent trout lake close.
